Don't even bother to ask ... you can shove your mask

Today, I was checking my Facebook memories, and this tweet I shared came up. I must have felt passionately about this tweet to share it on Facebook, generally my politics free space.

Seth was right 2 years ago, and he is still right today. Why am I bringing this tweet up again 2 years later when COVID is in our rear view mirror and everyone is clearly ready to move on? This is why.

Morris Brown college has announced mask mandates on their college campus. A movie set has as well. Maybe they are just crazy outliers. More than likely, they are not, and many more colleges and places of business will follow suit. I am not masking again. I'm not subjecting myself to the anxiety again. I'm not forcing my beautiful daughter to cover her face and deal with painful acne as a result of the masks. The SCIENCE tells us they do not work. I will not participate in the cosplay again. I stopped playing pretend when I was a child.

Society has already disrupted the formative years for young people in so many ways during this pandemic. We stunted their speech and social emotional development cues by covering the faces of their caregivers and teachers. We took away sports and scouts and art and going to the library. We robbed them of prom and graduation. Then, we wonder why they are more medicated, more depressed and more despondent than any previous generation. My only response to that is ... 'DUH'! Too many parents were not brave enough to fight for their children and their families. I, for one, won't make that mistake again.
