Earlier this week, the anti-gun Bloomberg/Moms Demand umbrella group Everytown released a “report” on the “74 school shootings in America” since the murders at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.

The implication, of course, is that all 74 were mass shootings similar to what happened in Newtown, Connecticut. You’ll have to scroll all the way to the end of the report to read Everytown’s buried admission that the scare-tistic includes suicides and accidental shootings. And journalist Charles C. Johnson found other problems when he scrutinized Everytown’s data.

Even CNN admitted that most of Everytown’s “school shootings” were not mass shootings like what happened at Newtown.

Evidently OneRepublic didn’t get the memo.
There have been 74 school shootings in the US since the Newton mass shooting 18 months ago. #Speechless

Even 1/4 of that number would be shocking
— ONEREPUBLIC (@OneRepublic) June 12, 2014
The band tweeted that misleading, inflated statistic to its nearly 1 million Twitter followers.
@OneRepublic Funny you should say that since it's less than 1/4 that number. http://t.co/djMP5A5h34

Time for OneRepublic to do some homework.

Hey, OneRepublic, “Lying About School Shootings” by National Review writer Charles Cooke is something else you might want to share with your fans.
