Since taking office, President Obama has repeatedly promised to “fulfill our sacred trust and serve our returning heroes as well as they’ve served us.” Over and over, the perpetual campaigner vowed that health care services for veterans would improve under VA Secretary Eric Shinseki’s leadership. And yet, here we are.
As Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum notes, the VA’s unacceptable treatment of American heroes is not a new story. These late expressions of “outrage” from Obama and members of Congress? Color MacCallum unimpressed:
Now Congress is outraged about VA – where were they and the President for the past 5 years? #notanewstory

Action and accountability speak louder than newfound outrage and sending Shinseki to bed without dessert.
Big f'n deal: Obama puts Shinseki in timeout. No dessert tonight! http://t.co/JVkByen5Hf

Which reminds us, guess who’s still “reserving judgment” instead of joining the chorus of calls for Shinseki to resign or be fired:
Significant that @johnboehner is still NOT calling for Shinseki to resign.
