Rick Warren: Sale of son's home to fund new mental illness ministry

In an April 6 letter to members of the Saddleback Church, Pastor Rick Warren revealed that his 27-year-old son Matthew had committed suicide after a lifetime struggle with “mental illness, dark holes of depression, and even suicidal thoughts.” As he prepares for the anguishing task of sorting through Matthew’s belongings, Pastor Warren announced on Twitter that money from the sale of his son’s home will fund a new mental illness ministry.
