Complete hypothetical–what if GOPers said Akin could have his House seat back & convince #MO02 nominee Ann Wagner to take Sen. nomination?
— Jessica Taylor (@JessicaTaylor) August 21, 2012
It may turn out to not be so hypothetical after all …
Amid growing pressure from the Missouri GOP for Todd Akin to drop out of the U.S. Senate race, conservatives have found themselves increasingly in favor of a candidate swap but haven’t quite reached a consensus as to who Akin’s replacement should be. That may be about to change. There’s a groundswell underway to draft former U.S. ambassador Ann Wagner for a senate run. Wagner is currently running for Akin’s congressional seat, and conservatives are thinking that if Akin bows out and switches places with Wagner, he can go back to representing his congressional district relatively easily.
Breitbart.com’s Ben Shapiro notes that the switch is definitely doable:
There is a legit legal loophole in MO that would allow Todd Akin to switch ballot slots with his district Congress candidate, Ann Wagner.

Monday night, a new Twitter account,@AnnWagnerSenate, quietly sprang up. Over the past few days, and particularly since yesterday, excitement about a possible Wagner senatorial campaign has been building, both state- and nationwide:
“@prfekrdumbrella: @ChrisLoesch who is Ann Wagner?” She is a grass roots candidate with massive support, fundraising. Frmr Ambassador.

Morale on the Right has taken a considerable hit in the wake of the Akin debacle, but the buzz about Wagner could be just what conservatives need to reenergize.
