Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., calls Holder contempt vote a 'congressional lynching'

Rep. Steve Cohen joined the Congressional Black Caucus in a childish walkout stunt during today’s House vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. But his absurd behavior didn’t end there.

Not one to pass up playing the race card, Cohen took to Twitter to call the vote a “congressional lynching.”

A contempt citation for withholding critical information on Operation Fast and Furious is a lynching? Gee, that’s not over-the-top rhetoric at all. No, siree.

And note that Cohen is far more concerned about this mythical “lynching” of Holder than he is about the deaths on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border due to Fast and Furious weapons.

The sleazy Tennessee Democrat is no stranger to stoking racial resentment and demonizing opponents with the suggestion that they’re motivated by racism. In 2010, he described Tea Party participants as Klansmen without robes and hoods.

Of course, Cohen is not alone in making the lynching comparison. He’s joined by these fine folks.

Cohen must be so proud to be in such classy company.
