MSNBC host Katy Tur suggests that the Trump administration’s revocation of John Brennan’s White House security clearance is strategically beneficial for the administration because it will supplant the person who has dominated the news cycle for the past week — Omarosa Manigault Newman.
Certainly will move the Omarosa news down the rundown. https://t.co/FHyqMaWvUk

There are several problems with the theory that team Trump did this for that purpose:
ONE — Revoking the security clearances for several former Obama administration aides, particularly John Brennan, is long overdue.
TWO — Why would Trump need to distract from the Omarosa news when just about every single person in America does not ascribe any credibility to the former reality television star?
Even Slate (SLATE!) doesn’t believe a word Omarosa says.
There is nothing Omarosa can say or do that could possibly matter: https://t.co/ye4ZSfKk3b pic.twitter.com/qM6HX4McLC

THREE — Perhaps the biggest point is that the media will rip Trump for revoking Brennan’s clearance with more aggression than they have been able to attack him over the Omarosa nonsense.

If it was about positive press, Trump would be better served by allowing the Omarosa saga to continue to dominate the conversation.
