Who’s ready for another indoor mask mandate in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer warned one could be on the way but she’s “well aware of the unhappiness” if it does return:
NEW: @lapublichealth Director Barbara Ferrer acknowledges she’s “well aware of the unhappiness” about a potential return to an indoor mask mandate in Los Angeles, but adds that she’s also aware of “massive misinformation campaigns that question the effectiveness of masks.”

But there doesn’t seem to be much sympathy for those who disagree with the need for another ineffective mandate. Here’s Los Angeles County Supervisor Shelia Kuehl — yes the same woman who “dined outdoors hours after voting to ban it” — calling those opposed to a new mandate “snowflake weepies”:
NEW: L.A. County Supervisor @SheilaKuehl , who dined outdoors hours after voting to ban it & calling it “most dangerous”, just said she is surprised about blowback from “snowflake weepies” who find it “oppressive to wear a mask”, then bizarrely cites no anger about wearing shoes.

She also said something about shoes being more of a burden than masks. Or something:
Sheila Kuehl thinks you are a “snowflake” for protecting the education and mental health of your kids in school.
A “snowflake” for protecting small business in the county.
A “snowflake” for believing in science, not political science. pic.twitter.com/Q9Xb069epQ— Kevin Dalton (@KevinForBOS) July 26, 2022
Maybe she’ll answer questions this time around?
Here is the moment L.A. County Supervisor @SheilaKuehl called those who oppose mask mandates “snowflake weepies.”
When I previously reported on her outdoor dining ban hypocrisy in late 2020, she called me & @FOXLA “Cartoon Network” & ducked all of our interview requests. https://t.co/P87v6iS9ML— Bill Melugin (@BillFOXLA) July 26, 2022
And how soon until we catch her without a mask indoors? Our bet is Day 1:
That was a hell of an episode when Kuehl voted to force restaurants in LA County to close outdoor operations and then hours later went to dine outdoors at a restaurant in Santa Monica. And now she’s lecturing her constituents. https://t.co/BGIXGdD1ud

As for the mandate, conservative attorney Julie Hamill is ready to file a temporary restraining order if it does go down:
On behalf of @LACountyParents, I filed a petition for writ of mandate and complaint against @lapublichealth, Ferrer and Davis. We cannot live like this anymore. If she proceeds with the new mask mandate on Friday, we will immediately seek a TRO. https://t.co/zVZL6s50AU

But we hope it doesn’t. This thread collected some of the public comments from those opposed to the new mandate. Just wow:
Thread:
I am reading through the thousands of comments submitted by Los Angeles citizens opposing a new mask mandate to be discussed at today's Board of Supervisors meeting.
These words are incredibly compelling, and need to be heard.

Jamie Stanchfield: "As for my students, I had children suffering from anxiety type behaviors, not
wanting to come to school since they didn’t want to wear the mask, insecure behaviors, etc. I had to constantly remind them to wear it properly. Is this my job as a teacher?"— Sarah Beth Burwick ❄️😭 (@sarahbeth345) July 26, 2022
I could go on, but you get the picture. The common themes are that masks obviously don't work, are not necessary, harm children, and destroy small businesses.
You can hear the desperation in these comments.

California, you don’t have to live like this:
L.A. County could avoid mask mandate this week as coronavirus cases decline https://t.co/eMW73NlLtY
