Have we finally reached “peak” Tom Nichols?
It sure looks like it.
His latest for The Atlantic is titled, “Leave Joe Biden Alone”:

LOL:
In today's Atlantic Daily, @RadioFreeTom defends President Joe Biden as he faces criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike. https://t.co/ekEpHWQCM8

And, as you might expect, we’ve let Tom down. Again:
My suspicion is that the full weight of our foreign and domestic crises has not broken through the self-absorption and solipsism of not only our political parties but the American public. We are just not capable of understanding that at home, we are inches away from the meltdown of our constitutional system of government, and abroad, we are one errant cruise missile away from a nuclear crisis.
TL;DR summary of this thread: “Biden, by his OWN STANDARD as stated during the 2020 election, is failing”:
This is a ridiculous piece.
His arguments for why Biden is a good President:
1. Avoided WWIII (Putin never wanted such a war).
2. He had a pandemic in which he was handed a vaccine…while his predecessor never had such benefit.
3. Trump.https://t.co/kK6f9UOdvj— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) June 15, 2022

There is a logical disconnect here.
The fact that Trump was an awful President has very little to do, in the final analysis, on whether or not Biden is an awful President.

Biden, by his OWN STANDARD as stated during the 2020 election, is failing.
He said he would end the pandemic (a ludicrous promise, but one he made).
He said he would improve the economy (it is substantially worse).
He said he would make the world safer (that is questionable).— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) June 15, 2022
Now, we can certainly give Biden the benefit of the doubt. Maybe no one could do better on the pandemic. Maybe nobody could have saved the economy. Maybe there was no safer path on the world scene.
But then…we going to give his predecessor the same benefit of the doubt?

Yes, we’re getting major Britney Spears-meme vibes from this one:
You know you're reading this like that Britney fan that cried on YouTube.
Leave Biden alone!😭😭😭https://t.co/vquYfsDEHQ

Meanwhile, back in reality, Biden’s “approval falls in the third straight week, nears record low”:
