The NYT’s Nikole-Hannah Jones is questioning if students in the Chicago Public Schools system even have the resources available for remote learning after last night’s vote by the Chicago Teachers Union to refuse to work in the classroom during the Omicron surge:
Anyone know how many Chicago Public Schools students even have remote devices since they decision not to go to into school occurred late last night? Sincere question.

Guys, you know that vote was bad when she’s saying out loud that we “ave to be able to talk [about] the harms of remote learning in a society where vaccines are available for all teachers without being accused of being anti-union or anti-teacher”
We have to be able to talk abtthe harms of remote learning in a society where vaccines are available for all teachers without being accused of being anti-union or anti-teacher. We can disagree on what is the best thing to do when there are no good options without that accusation.

We’re pretty sure every parent whose kids aren’t in school today agrees with this:
Yes. Thank you. (My kids are not in school today.) https://t.co/L3GSkxpS9g

We need that “epic handshake” meme for this one:
The Chicago teachers' union decision has the potential to be among the most unifying moves in a long time — bringing left and right together against the walkoff: https://t.co/Oab1vIpBIV

But, we suspect, the real reason for this is they say how badly Dems did in Virginia and not some new-found embrace of the actual science”:
They’re changing their position on closing schools because they saw what happened in the Virginia election.
Don’t be fooled for one moment into thinking the left gives a single solitary shit about those children. They destroyed their schools long before covid arrived. https://t.co/2rBIPukQqB

And, boy, it’s fun to see how fast their positions change when it’s their kids:
What are things the left didn't say until it was their kids being affected, Alex? https://t.co/woSrqWQGxQ
