Just to follow up on the multiple stories we’ve been posting on the abandoned service dogs at the Kabul airport, many are concerned that the Taliban will slaughter the animals:

Especially so for the service dogs which are easily identifiable:
I want to mention… many of the dogs dumped by the US government at the airport were wearing military dog tags. They are most at risk of torture by the Taliban. Somewhere on my feed is video of dogs wearing these tags. #OperationHercules #NoPawsLeftBehind #KabulSmallAnimalRescue

According to Charlotte Maxwell-Jones, the woman who runs the shelter, “about 50” of the dogs were dropped off by security contractors who were working for U.S. interests. From Stars and Stripes:
The fate of the animals, about 50 of which Maxwell-Jones described as working dogs abandoned by contractors who supported the U.S. mission, remains unknown.
But in a plot twist of sorts, there’s a report out from RT’s Murad Gazdiev that says the Taliban plan to rescue the dogs and put them back to work:
The Taliban’a commander of Kabul airport tells us US troops let their service dogs free as they evacuated.
The dogs are being rounded up, and the Taliban plans to, in an ironic twist, put them back into service for the Islamic Emirate.

They have helicopters, vehicles and guns, why not use these assets, too?
