Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered the end of all state-mandated COVID restriction and said that New Yorkers “can return to life as we know it” now that the state has reached a 70% adult vaccination rate:
Today New York State reached our goal of 70% adult vaccination.
That means we can return to life as we know it.

And he’s ordered all state buildings lit blue and gold to honor essential workers:
#BREAKING UPDATE: Cuomo to celebrate essential workers with statewide fireworks shows tonight at 9:15 p.m. (he says you'll be able to see them); all state buildings to be lit blue and gold in their honor as well https://t.co/l8mxqP7DLz

Twitchy favorite Janice Dean was particularly harsh on Gov. Cuomo for his victory lap, and rightfully so:
Life as we know it?
After thousands died because of your reckless decisions, favoritism towards your family and friends above nursing homes and then covering up the true death toll to sell your 5 million dollar book of lies.
You’re a disgrace. https://t.co/yrX4gAjhQj— Janice Dean (@JaniceDean) June 15, 2021
If only:
I’d love it if someone said final presser from this governor in office. https://t.co/8tmVuflGMO
