NYT reporter deletes tweet on the 'racist roots' of the Wuhan lab-leak investigation [screenshot]

The New York Times’ Apoorva Mandavilli — one of their lead reporters covering the COVID-19 pandemic — deleted a tweet on Wednesday saying the theory that the virus leaked out of a lab in Wuhan, China has “racist roots”:

She deleted the tweet because she didn’t like the responses it earned:

She later clarified that the theory could be true but still have “racist roots” but never explained why even asking this was ever racist:

And she doesn’t think an investigation will go anywhere anyway:

Just wow.
