Breaking news out of D.C. where the White House just asserted executive privilege of the Mueller report:
BREAKING: The White House is asserting executive privilege over the Mueller report, our Carrie Johnson reports.

Rep. Jerry Nadler, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, had hoped to subpoena the Mueller report without redactions:
Joining @NewDay to discuss this morning’s @HouseJudiciary markup on holding A.G. Barr in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with our subpoena for the full Mueller report. Tune in ?

And it looks like Rep. Nadler will go ahead and move to hold Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt of Congress over it:

Reminder: There was a time when Rep. Nadler called the Republican-led House’s vote to hold then Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress “shameful” and “politically motivated”:
Just joined the #walkout of the House chamber to protest the shameful, politically-motivated GOP vote holding AG Holder in contempt

Now let’s sit back and watch the press just “write it off just as they did when” it was Obama in charge:
Nope, claiming executive privilege over the report doesn't look good but I for one expect our fair press to write it off just as they did when the last guy did the same with Fast & Furious
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) May 8, 2019
We will note that Republicans eventually won the Fast and Furious fight, which could prove problematic to Barr:
I'm not going to claim to be the world's foremost expert on executive privilege but I don't see how DOJ wins on the merits to so broadly refuse production of the Mueller report and its underlying docs. The Fast and Furious ruling in 2016 seriously undermines that argument.
