Talk about thin-skinned!
Vanity Fair has disinvited the New York Times from its annual Oscars party after an article published in the paper called into question the party’s significance:
Just got word that Vanity Fair has disinvited The New York Times from covering their annual Oscars party. They said it "feels like the Times has already run their coverage of the VF party this year," they said. I guess we did!https://t.co/xZUWpbQnJH

Here’s the article, which is brutal to Vanity Fair:
But won’t disinviting the Times just bring more attention to the article?
this saga of how a few people dissed a party causing the host to disinvite them is a good reminder that high school never ended for many people https://t.co/ONmgxexgcH

Backfire in progress:
This is the absolute dumbest thing Condé Nast & Vanity Fair could have done. They just elevated the story and drew far more attention to what is a very legitimate story: Vanity Fair is losing its clout in Hollywood.

The funny thing is … why wouldn't they understand the best bitchy revenge is waiting for the NYT to show up and then saying, "Huh. I thought we were losing our luster, but *welcome anyway*"? If you want to go the petty route, I mean. https://t.co/1inrCukAre

@VanityFair Oscars party is the new Fyre Festival. https://t.co/PynRYTwfjv

The story highlights some of the absurdity of Hollywood, anyway. https://t.co/6S7vGC6noT

Other blue checks are calling out VF for its hypocrisy:
After great reporting by @katierosman @brooksbarnesNYT on @VanityFair Oscars party, Conde Nast saw fit to ban Times reporters from covering the event. This, from a publication that touts journalism. https://t.co/hzLVU2RBPT

Time for a boycott?
I have decided not to attend this year’s Vanity Fair Oscars party in light of their decision to ban the @NYTimes on account of their very legitimate reporting. The decision to ban the Times because of critical reporting is incongruous with journalistic values VF claims to uphold. https://t.co/cv0l3nGo9c
