ICYMI yesterday, a woman protesting against ICE and president Trump’s immigration policies was arrested after scaling the base of the Statue of Liberty, causing an hours long standoff with the NYPD as well as an evacuation of the island:

Thankfully no NYPD members or first responders were injured bringing this woman down:
To the idiot climbing the Statue of Liberty, your “cause” isn’t worth the lives of the brave first responders giving up their 4th to make sure you don’t die from your stupidity. #preach

She had told the cops that she wouldn’t come down until “all the children have been release”:
NBC, citing a law enforcement source, says the trespasser at the Statue of Liberty "is telling the police that she will not come down willingly until 'All the children have been released.'"

LOL. Yes, the tourists who had their 4th ruined might like to hear that:
Reporter @jimdolan7 of @ABC7, on scene of a woman climbing the Statue of Liberty, throwing it back to the in-studio anchors: "It is some consolation to the tourists that she will be spending the night in jail."

Now, check out how CNN’s Jim Acosta described it all. According to him, the NYPD rescued the protester:
Happening now on @CNNSitRoom we are following breaking news from NYC as police are scrambling to rescue a protester who has climbed the Statue of Liberty. Filling in for Wolf. Happy 4th of July everybody. ??

Rescue/arrest … same difference:
Thank goodness… a safe conclusion to the rescue on the Statue of Liberty on this July 4th. Cheers to the first responders in NYC and all across America. More coming up on @CNNSitRoom
