There’s a reason why Americans have lost faith in the MSM, and reporters haven’t been doing themselves any favors to improve their standing in this first week of Donald Trump’s presidency.
Case in point, CNN’s Jim Sciutto tweeted on Friday that President Trump has fundamentally changed U.S. refugee policy by adding a religious component to who can and who cannot come to America:
There is no basis to the claim Muslim refugees were prioritized over Christians. Fact is, refugee policy not based in religion, until now.

And here’s attorney Gabriel Malor with the fact check:
Also, the idea that "refugee policy not based in religion" is also false. Religion is one of the five protected grounds. https://t.co/bAEJ8bB5xv

I cannot emphasize how idiotic this tweet was. Refugee law is based on race, religion, national origin, political opinion, and PSG. https://t.co/bAEJ8bB5xv

That's it. Religion is one of the very narrow grounds for which you can be a refugee to the United States (and most other countries).

For @jimsciutto to declare that refugee policy was not about religion before now is to completely ignore history and law.

True story. The reason American refugee law is based on religion and nationality is because …. you guessed it. The Holocaust.

You get these fucking reporters who have never learned a thing in their lives opining on everything. Gah.
— Gabriel Malor (@gabrielmalor) January 28, 2017
But I'll give journos a shortcut. Every time you're tempted to write "This has never happened before!" you should find an expert.
— Gabriel Malor (@gabrielmalor) January 28, 2017
Because, by God, most of this shit has happened over and over and over. Trump is not new.

Good advice.
