A police captain in the Kansas City (Kansas) Police Department was shot and killed this afternoon after responding to a call of a drive-by shooting.
According to reports, the suspects exited the vehicle and shot Captain Robert Melton, who was also a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, while he was sitting in his patrol car:
