BREAKING: Islamic State killed a #US soldier north of #Mosul this morning

A U.S. serviceman was killed by “enemy fire” during a battle with ISIS today near the city of Irbil in northern Iraq. Ash Carter confirmed the death while in Germany where he is meeting with European nations on the fight against ISIS. As mentioned in this Fox News report, Irbil “historically, that has been a safe place, not so anymore.”

The attack came as ISIS used a “convoy of truck bombs” to break through the Kurdish Peshmerga’s front line:
