Johns Hopkins University, which is located in Baltimore, was set to host Ta-Nehisi Coates, who was born in Baltimore, for the launch of the university’s new initiative to bring speakers to campus to discuss race issues in America.
But the ongoing riots in Baltimore have forced the university to postpone tonight’s speech:
Tonight's event featuring @tanehisicoates has been postponed. We hope to be able to reschedule it soon.

"When nonviolence is preached by the representatives of the state…it reveals itself to be a con." @tanehisicoates: http://t.co/iwxwAvhUdq

Maybe once the violence calms down, Coates can come back to Johns Hopkins to discuss his theory on nonviolence in greater detail.
