Last night we reported on the new favorite — but wrong — liberal talking point that Sen. Tom Cotton and the other 46 GOP Senators who signed that open letter to Iran had committed treason by violating what is known as the Logan Act.
Alec Baldwin weighed in as well, saying Sen. Cotton was guilty of “treason” and the other GOP Senators part of a “criminal conspiracy.”
But it’s game over for these morons as their favorite news sources have now completely and thoroughly debunked the treason meme:

Don’t believe Vox? Well, then … how about what we’re reading over at HuffPo?
Dammit, HuffPo! http://t.co/NAWAIe9XDZ

And to his credit, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell not only tore into the new insta-Logan-Act legal scholars on his show, but mixed it up with viewers on this timeline as well:
@Lawrence You're wrong about the definition of traitor and treason. https://t.co/lMHIca92oS #47Traitors #LastWord

.@AlanEggleston Wrong. Don't do legal research in dictionaries. Try law books next time for legal meaning of treason.
— Lawrence O'Donnell (@Lawrence) March 11, 2015
@Lawrence Academic dictionaries are an adequate place to do research. They are usually thorough in citation.
— Alan Eggleston (@AlanEggleston) March 11, 2015
.@AlanEggleston Just don't use a dictionary to tell me I'm wrong about the law of treason. You can push your ideas without lying about me.
— Lawrence O'Donnell (@Lawrence) March 11, 2015
And…
@Lawrence @AlanEggleston 4give intrusion, but I'm just a tad concerned that the legal def of 'treason' wouldn't be based on the actual def.

@Lawrence @AlanEggleston …of course, oversimplification IS a soft pillow…
— MutherBear (@MuthrBear) March 11, 2015
.@MuthrBear @AlanEggleston Law school is 3 years of teaching you that difference.
