Dueling MoveOn.org petitions: 54,412 for de Blasio to resign; 133 for PBA Pres. Lynch to resign

Well, this isn’t going so well for the progressive MoveOn.org folks.

A petition started by the “People of NYC,” at the time of this post, has 54,412 signatures calling on Mayor Bill de Blasio to resign after the execution-style murder of two NYPD officers Saturday night. And you can see from these tweets how fast the petition has grown in the past 24 hours:

For comparison purposes, a petition calling for Police Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch to step down for his comment suggesting that Mayor de Blasio had “blood on his hands” from the deaths of the two officers. This petition has 133 signatures:

MoveOn.org has since decided it will no long promote the de Blasio petition because it conflicts with its member’s views:

Oh, well. Let’s see if the Lynch petition can catch up!
