BuzzFeed’s Ben Smith is a little unhappy with this Huffington Post piece published today that questions his reporting on a story Smith wrote earlier this week alleging that Uber executive Emil Michaels threatened to “dig up dirt” on reporters. Twitchy covered the incident here.
Smith tweeted his dismay:
Pretty amazed to see @HuffingtonPost publishing something 1) falsely accusing me of making up comments Uber has already apologized for

And b)whining that I was "trying to change the tenor of an otherwise enjoyable dinner" http://t.co/Xu7Yyc3Pmk

But then the Twitter equivalent of watching someone walk across a lawn and step on a rake happened. Meaning, you see the person walking into danger and you know what’s going to happen once they step on the rake, but there’s nothing you can do to stop it from happening:
What do people think reporters' jobs are??

@BuzzFeedBen A reporter's job is to regurgitate what was told to them, and to only say by whom if that person agrees to it first. Duh.
