One of my favorite topics to cover in VIP posts is how the left distorts and manipulates language to fit their goals. From 'preferred pronouns' to the use of the words 'girl' and 'boy,' they are RELENTLESS.
But there is another way that the left and the media manipulate the truth and that is simply by hiding it and hoping no one notices. Fortunately, the media is really bad at that, which is why their credibility is in the toilet, but it doesn't stop them from trying.
This week, we have a great example of hiding the truth from the pages and tweets of Newsweek magazine.
It all started with a tweet yesterday from Biden-Harris HQ, quite possibly the most inept campaign social media war room in history. The account gets ratioed on Twitter regularly for deceptively editing videos and often just outright lying.
So, needless to say, I was intrigued when I saw this giddy tweet from Biden-Harris HQ:

Now, given the account this came from, I was naturally skeptical. We've documented at Twitchy the disaster the debate was for Biden and the fallout from it is continuing to this day.
But since Biden-Harris HQ didn't include a source (they often don't), my red flags stood at attention and I was curious where they got this headline from.
A quick search on Twitter showed that this language was from an actual tweet sent by Newsweek the day before.

Wow. As the saying goes, 'Big if true.'
The red flags were standing at attention now, so this is where I put my true investigative journalism shoes on. This will blow your socks off. Guess what I did?

Wow. Talk about Joe-mentum. No wonder Biden-Harris HQ was so ecstatic. Biden picked up one Latino voter.
Of course, Newsweek justifies this abomination of journalism by including a link in its story to a tweet from a Democrat operative who WORKED for the Biden campaign.

This clip is a Univision focus group of Latinos watching the debate. Exactly ONE of those people is interviewed, saying that Trump was just lying, that Biden has 'a stutter,' and that he was changing from undecided to Biden voter.
Sure, he was undecided. Sure, he was. And Al Pacino really IS the Cuban crime lord Tony Montana that he portrayed in Scarface.
Barreto's claim that 'every single undecided voter said they now support Biden' is COMPLETELY unsubstantiated by the video or any other polling information coming out of the debate. He just made it up based on one interview.
And Newsweek ran with that. Because, of course, they did.
Fifteen thousand people liked Newsweek's tweet. Fifteen thousand more liked the tweet from Biden-Harris HQ.
All of it based on a lie.

They didn't even bother to look into Barreto's tweet to see if it was accurate. They just assumed him saying that everyone in the room supported Biden and went with it.
And that's not even getting into the fact that 15 people in a room is not any statistical indication of how Latino undecided voters, or undecided voters as a whole, feel (especially if one of those 15 who was 'chosen' to be interviewed was so clearly biased and not at all 'undecided').

I did some more investigative journalism into Newsweek. This time, I checked The Internet Archive. (Intrepid investigating, right? LOL.)
The original headline for Newsweek's story was the same as their tweet, 'Undecided Voters Say They Now Support Joe Biden After Debate.'
They were actually prepared to run with that before they changed it a couple of hours later to the screenshot I noted above.
One of Newsweek's attorneys must have stepped in and said, 'Yeah, no. We're not using that headline unless you want us to get sued.'

Trust in the American legacy media currently stands between 20-30 percent and this is exactly the reason why. Frankly, I'm not sure how the numbers are even THAT high.
I don't need to get into a long lecture here about all of the reasons WHY we should not trust the media. Twitchy readers know all those reasons. Nor do I need to repeat how the left will do ANYTHING to distort language, words, and truth to meet their objectives. You know all that too.
But Twitchy will keep pointing out these laughable tactics as often as possible because one thing DOES bear repeating over and over again: the media is a cancer. No matter how you may feel about Donald Trump, his statement that they are 'the enemy of the people' is increasingly accurate with every passing week, month, and year.
In other words, whenever you see a tweet like the ones Newsweek and Biden-Harris HQ put out this weekend, this should be everyone's first response:
