Christ is King.
Indeed, he is. This is my firm belief as a Christian.
Why then are Joel Berry, managing editor of the Christian satire site The Babylon Bee, and many others lobbing criticism at the use of the recently popular 'Christ is King' slogan?

Berry painting a picture of 'Christ is King' proclaimers on Twitter/X burning in eternal flames seems a bit extreme. He's a satirist. Hyperbole in service of a point is his medium. His follow-up tweet makes his intended meaning a bit clearer.
Yes, Christ is King. He’s my king. I tremble at the thought. But it would also be great if we didn’t allow the precious name of our holy savior to become a nazi-coded catchphrase for Nick Fuentes’s army of dorks
— Joel Berry (@JoelWBerry) March 24, 2024
I agree.
Many Christians are likely seeing the use of 'Christ is King' trending across Twitter/X and thinking 'Amen!'.
Absolutely, proclaim Christ as King. It's what we believe and we are blessed to live in a nation where we can worship and express our faith freely. At the same time, be sure that you are proclaiming Christ is King to further the Good News and not as a political tool.
My caution to myself and my fellow Christians is to be wary of who you are associating with so the name of Jesus will not be harmed.
Perhaps some of you remember when the term 'alt-right' was birthed. Many identified with the term, which was extremely ambiguous. For most, it meant they were a member of the new right that wanted a change from the GOP establishment. It was also a safe place for a small group of actual racists and antisemites who trafficked in Jewish oven memes. The left-wing media was more than happy to associate all conservatives with the handful of unsavory people who used the alt-right moniker. As a result, almost everyone on the right stopped identifying as alt-right.
It would be a shame to see the same characters ruin the phrase 'Christ is King' because they're larping as followers of Jesus.
Where exactly did this notion that 'Christ is King' is antisemitic come from?
For folks who claim Candace Owens isn’t being antisemitic, here is where the chant of “Christ is king” began to be twisted into the dog whistle is has become: https://t.co/B0YDdzPcTd

In the video cited above, Nick Fuentes states 'We need to irradicate Jewish stranglehold over the United States of America', 'Word is getting out that we gotta get rid of Jewish power in America', and 'America is not a Jewish nation. America is a Christian nation.' These statements are followed by chants of 'Christ is King!' from his followers.
Joel Berry is correct. There is a segment of far-right social media dwellers who deal in antisemitic tropes and have adopted 'Christ is King' as their motto.
It's the perfect troll for them. Christians won't, and shouldn't, reject the motto because it's our deeply held belief. Many unwittingly appear to be allies because they see any criticism of 'Christ is King' as an attack on Christianity, rather than criticism of un-Christlike people using him as a political wedge.
The issue has once again created a dustup on Twitter/X following the separation of Candace Owens and The Daily Wire because Owens has used the slogan.
Christ is King is trending worldwide. ✝️
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) March 24, 2024
The media’s attempt to cross Him again has failed.
Happy Sunday.
I don't know if Candace Owens understands there is a group of truly antisemitic dorks who are using 'Christ is King' as their rallying cry or not. I don't believe she's a stupid woman.
If she's sincere in her belief in Jesus Christ, she should make clear that her statements are not in concert with their aims.
I have doubted the sincerity of Owens since she appeared on the scene, but I'm admittedly a skeptic when it comes to shiny new conservative rock stars. I've also defended Owens when I believed she was unfairly attacked.
Here's hoping her next step isn't to embrace the Fuentes/Ye crowd for a reliable audience.
Christians—ignore the campaign to mark “Christ is King” as antisemitic. Ignore it with all your might.

Christ is King, and every knee will bow and confess that He is Lord. pic.twitter.com/RFCY3cigzB
It is true that saying 'Christ is King' is not antisemitic. It's also true that the phrase has been usurped by antisemitic groups. Christians should not refrain from proclaiming Christ as King and we should not refrain from speaking out against those who abuse the name of Christ for their nefarious purposes.
I know, I know, people on the right are always being accused of being Nazis. Why should you believe this claim of antisemitism is any different?
Check out the replies to Joel Berry's tweet. They don't exactly hide it.

As I said above, there is a group of people on the right who are antisemitic and espouse these non-Christian beliefs under the mantle of Christianity.
They have a distorted, unbiblical view of Christianity that is focused on their views of Jewish people rather than the teachings of Jesus Christ.
On Palm Sunday, of all days, it's fitting to remember that many of those who celebrated Christ as King were demanding his crucifixion a week later.
Don't always trust the words that come out of people's mouths.
On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. (John 12:12-13)
Scripture tells us 'You shall know them by their fruits'. That is, our words are not as important as our actions. 'Christ is King' is not a magic incantation that makes you one of the good guys. A person who openly uses the phrase as a rallying cry for a group that promotes derision against the Jewish people (whom God clearly loves, as is evident throughout the Bible), is not exhibiting Christlike behavior.
Them: 'But the Jews killed Christ!'
Me: 'Technically, the Romans killed Christ.'
Them: 'But the Jooooos!!!'
A Christian should recognize this simple truth: I killed Christ.
Next week, we Christians celebrate Jesus willingly offering himself as a substitutionary sacrifice to pay for our sins. Our hope for eternal salvation rests in Christ alone and his completed work to conquer sin and death through his resurrection. Attempts to distort that message with other agendas detract from the gospel message.
Yes, Christ is King. We should proclaim it without shame and we should rebuke those who use that truth for shameful purposes.
That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; (1 Timothy 6:14-15)
