Sometimes we all just need a laugh, right? This old clip of Norm Macdonald with Conan O’Brien came across our Twitter feed and had us laughing … and feeling a bit nostalgic.
In the 1997 segment, Macdonald appears with guest Courtney Thorne-Smith of Melrose Place fame, who was currently working with Carrot Top in box-office bomb Chairman of the Board.
Norm Macdonald pulled no punches, as was his style. Check out the video and have yourselves a laugh … so we just had to share with our Twitchy friends.
Could have retired talk shows after this moment, never got any better than this https://t.co/dTlAhXusCK pic.twitter.com/1gvn25KgzB

Late night talk shows, and their hosts, used to be a lot more funny, believe it or not. The expectation that everyone air their left wing-approved politics ‘for the good of the nation’ to their captive audiences has ruined everything.
It was a different time, to be sure. People didn’t take themselves so seriously and weren’t constantly looking for reasons to be offended.
We could use more of that today.
“Do something with that, you freak” is one of the great lead-ins of all time.

Conan was daring Norm Macdonald to wade in deeper, and he did not disappoint. LOL.
Apparently Carrot Top played this clip at his show in Norm’s memory 🫡

He did. Macdonald earned the respect and friendship of his peers, and he did it without hiding behind a veneer of political correctness.
Here’s another great example of Norm Macdonald making fun of the obvious without creating offense.
His Conan Gift Basket appearance might be the funniest thing I've ever seen on a talk show https://t.co/ZxKNf2VGt2

LOLOLOL!
Norm was right!
This clip was tweeted in response to a call for best celebrity interactions. As a bonus, here’s a hilarious clip of Tom Cruise on Letterman before Dave killed his show with politics.
Tom Cruise’s pilot story is Hall of Fame worthy. pic.twitter.com/YArFGRzBID

Good times!
This is "Tonight Show" circa 1974 level. https://t.co/acQ7UAmCZs

That’s what we’re saying! There’s a higher level of humor available to us, folks. Our culture is just too self-centered to embrace it.
Courtney Thorne-Smith's reaction is what takes this to the next level. https://t.co/aHRgYRPS1U

It really was great. Norm Macdonald is savaging the movie she’s there to pitch to America, and she’s LOVING it. LOL.
Actual belly laughter.
Man, I miss Norm. https://t.co/cVZZZbDdvS

He really was. Let’s not fall into the trap of believing we can’t have this again if we can just get over ourselves and go for it.
