As you've probably heard, President Trump fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and announced a replacement.

Trump thanked the outgoing Chairman in a social media post:
“I want to thank General Charles ‘CQ’ Brown for his over 40 years of service to our country, including as our current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a fine gentleman and an outstanding leader, and I wish a great future for him and his family,” Trump posted on social media.
That is of course well within Trump's purview as Commander-in-Chief, but CNN's Kaitlan Collins tried to turn it into a tragedy for the U.S. with help from a "retired four-star general":
A retired four-star general expressed serious dismay over this move to me tonight, calling it "sadly political and tragic for our nation." https://t.co/sss0xYiAhk

Hmm, who could that person be?
What else did Mark Milley have to say?
— IT Guy (@ITGuy1959) February 22, 2025
Did you all reminisce about how he made a complete debacle of the Afghanistan withdrawal, including 13 American troops needlessly killed in action + drone striking an innocent Afghan family?
Who is the retired general

If it's Milley that would be how he often operates:

Milley’s go-to move has always been to advance his preferred narrative through anonymous quotes to a few reliable reporters who will repeat whatever he wants.

Glad to see he’s moved on from “senior military official” to “retired four star general,” though. https://t.co/GzO7eQol2P
Apparently this particular CNN reporter is pals with a certain "retired four-star general" source.
I saw this reporter having breakfast with Milley a few months back at the St. Regis in Washington, DC. https://t.co/vaNMQFg7d6

This retired four-star general? https://t.co/vaNMQFg7d6 pic.twitter.com/toDY9rBxzA

Could be!
Tell Milley he can say it publicly, he already published the book. https://t.co/XYgn4bRLLB

Tragic? That's an odd way of describing it. What is tragic about it? https://t.co/YuDFFYz13j
— Jay Caruso (@JayCaruso) February 22, 2025
It's "tragic" to these people because the Left has lost its power in DC and they know it.
Milley is extremely unhappy that his undue power & influence over the U.S. military is coming to a close. https://t.co/8yUYZaceRY
— Jerry Dunleavy IV 🇺🇸 (@JerryDunleavy) February 22, 2025
Bingo! Because something's "tragic" for Milley doesn't mean it's tragic for the country, no matter how hard CNN tries to push that angle.
Every single new Administration changes personnel. Can you people please stop lighting your hair on fire each time that Trump replaces a Biden person with someone that HE chooses?
— Ken Gardner (@KenGardner11) February 22, 2025
Drama queens. 🙄 https://t.co/wzGdzOyZuQ
We can't help but wonder how many of the people on the Left who are melting down over this firing could have even named the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs two days ago.
Obama purged the military. https://t.co/FxURQLsk65

Clinton also replaced the head of the joint chiefs.
It was Trump who initially appointed Brown.
Journalism isn’t your strong point, is it?

But that was "D"ifferent!
That’s because General Brown was a huge DEI supporter, which is no longer accepted in the military. https://t.co/Aqt2i9maGq

Yeah, has CNN not been paying attention?
