Clay Travis spotted a story the New York Times deemed front-page-worthy that just screams Pulitzer Prize:
“All the news that’s fit to print” is the Times’ motto.
This woman owns a freaking horse — which she rides as a hobby, she also had her own pony as a kid — and she changed her hairstyle and there is a front page @nytimes story about how her helmet doesn’t fit any more. But listen to this quote: “I finally freaking feel like myself and… https://t.co/xRWZVjz54M

There is of course a matching tweet from the Times:
For Black equestrians with natural hair, finding a helmet that fits can be virtually impossible –– another barrier to inclusion in a sport that remains overwhelmingly white. Helmet companies say there isn’t a simple fix. https://t.co/hhYIBqZV8B pic.twitter.com/Io9myQ4wKJ

Would this qualify as a “first-world problem”? The Times certainly thought it qualified for the front page.

This article really is something else. Put aside the substance and think about why the NYT published it at all. What does it say about the NYT narrow readership if this nonsense appeals to them? Either the staff or their readers – likely both – are completely out of touch. https://t.co/X2ERJs095o

Aren’t people with dreadlocks able to wear helmets while playing other sports?

The Times’ story ends this way:
Black riders say the manufacturers’ responses demonstrate what they’re up against.
“Sports were only developed for white people and they continue to keep white people protected,” Ms. Robbins said. “People need to realize diversity and inclusion belongs anywhere, especially in sports.”
Black athletes in contact sports aren’t allowed to wear helmets, pads, etc.? The New York Times really helped break a story there.
