Mayor Eric Adams' concern that NYC will be dangerous because of the SCOTUS gun ruling is straight up laughable

Earlier today the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that New York’s law requiring citizens to show “proper cause” in order to receive a license to carry a concealed handgun outside the home is unconstitutional. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul immediately made her displeasure known in a familiar and mock-worthy way:

Not to be outdone, New York City Mayor Eric Adams actually is concerned that the ruling will make his city a dangerous place:

Oh my goodness… really?

Adams is concerned the SCOTUS ruling might ruin the peaceful utopia that is New York City right now? Laughable.

At least in the wild west there were sheriffs who were allowed to actually keep criminals in jails and off the streets.

Perhaps Adams should look at it the other way around:

The mayor should also look at the May crime stats for his city before expressing concern that a SCOTUS ruling will be what makes NYC dangerous:

Overall index crime in New York City increased by 27.8% in May 2022 compared with May 2021 (10,414 v. 8,149). Each of the seven major index crime categories saw increases, driven by a 42.1% increase in grand larceny (4,116 v. 2,897); a 28.3% rise in burglary (1,239 v. 966); and a 26.2% increase in robbery (1,506 v. 1,193).

Adams getting upset over the SCOTUS ruling is the last thing he should be worrying about right now.
