CBS News recently published a story titled “The Deadliest Cities in the U.S”:
Here are murder rates in 65 major U.S. cities (cities with greater than 100,000 residents) for 2019. These rates are calculated using the latest statistics available — the FBI’s 2019 Crime in the United States data, as well as data culled directly from city police officials and the U.S. Census Bureau.
These are the top ten cities on the list:
10. Cleveland, Ohio
9. Memphis, Tennessee
8. Kansas City, Missouri
Recommended
7. New Orleans, Louisiana
6. Baton Rouge, Louisiana
5. Dayton, Ohio
4. Detroit, Michigan
3. Birmingham, Alabama
2. Baltimore, Maryland
1. St. Louis, Missouri
With that in mind as the midterms approach after which the 2024 presidential race will begin to heat up, it’s almost as if Democrats are in competition to come up with the most ridiculous takes on the issues of the day.
Here’s Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s contribution posted to Trump’s Truth Social:
Newsom’s first post on Trump’s platform is on “America’s red state murder problem.”

So. Much. Gaslighting:
I just joined Trump’s Truth Social.
Going to be on there calling out Republican lies. This could get…interesting.

Two Los Angeles police officers were recently killed by a felon the Newsom-endorsed County D.A. refused to put behind bars and this guy’s pointing to a “red state murder problem”?
LA County homicide rate is at a 16 year high!

What Newsom does here is to take the top ten highest murder rate cities, all of which are run by Democrats, and find which ones happen to be in states that have Republican governors, and voila — there’s your “red state murder problem.”
All of those states have lower homicide rates than LA County alone

This is not unlike when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blamed Chicago’s murder rate on Indiana. But if all these states are in the U.S., and Biden’s the country’s president, shouldn’t it be “Biden’s murder problem”?
How about do ur job instead? https://t.co/gcc8iPzRPp

Newsom himself recently said that parts of his state resemble a third-world country, but his top priorities seem to be going after Florida’s governor and laughably highlighting a “red state murder problem” on Truth Social.
