As we told you yesterday, CNN’s Chris Cuomo apologized for putting his colleagues “in a tough spot” after getting busted advising Gov. Andrew Cuomo on how to respond to the allegations against him.
Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple says that’s bad, but something a Fox News host did was worse:
CNN's Chris Cuomo busted for advising his governor-brother (Bad). Then-MSNBC contributor Jon Meacham busted for helping candidate Biden with speeches (Bad). Fox News' Sean Hannity/Tucker Carlson busted numerous times for advising Trump (Worse). Cable news, folks!

Primarily because Hannity: 1) Paid for Gingrich to fly on his own private jet to interview for the VP job; 2) counseled Trump folks in trouble with the law, including Manafort, for which there are text messages in the public record; 3) advised Trump several times a week. cont'd

Well, that’s one way to look at it, and we’re sure at some point CNN will also take the “but Fox News” approach.

Anyone who speaks to viewers while a logo on the screen says “(Brand) News” is presenting himself/herself as a journalist.

If the outlet’s logo is on the screen that means the person talking is being presented as a “journalist”?
So basically you’re saying that a media personality helping his brother is somehow comparable to Hannity’s efforts? Wow.

What does any of this have to do with Sean Hannity?
— Bonchie (@bonchieredstate) May 21, 2021
Because it provides a helpful distraction from the Cuomo story?
What you manage to do is show that across the cable spectrum they all behave unethically — but only Fox News is branded as the misinformation outlet and in need of being deplatformed.
Funny how that works out. https://t.co/1uh4T4qy8d— Brad Slager – Focused On Lasers (@MartiniShark) May 21, 2021
Weird, right?
Bbbbbut Fox! You guys are so friggin' predictable. Idiotic comparison, btw. https://t.co/ZvfCIQz734

It's sad, the lengths smart people will go to to protect a corrupt CNN…
Hannity & Tucker are honest about their biases.
Fredo pretends to be a JOURNALIST.
That is all the difference in the world.
e.g., no one cares if Maddow's advising a Dem.
This isn't hard. https://t.co/t1NuhhfiCR

"What they did is worse than Chris Cuomo telling his brother to claim women are lying about sexual harassment because I hate Tucker Carlson" https://t.co/20mgxT1Yrh

Dear @ErikWemple:
1. @seanhannity & @TuckerCarlson are *opinion* hosts; @CNN pretends @ChrisCuomo is a *news* anchor.
2. You’re defending a journalist advising his politician-brother *& his top staff* on how to be “defiant” & deflect 7 credible claims of workplace sexual abuse. https://t.co/ddkubScw4L
