As of right now, three instances have surfaced where Canadian PM Justin Trudeau appeared in photos wearing blackface (or “brownface” as many reports have been calling it). As we told you yesterday, one of those instances was at an “Arabian Nights” event that took place in 2001:
TIME publishes yearbook photo of Justin Trudeau in ‘brownface’ for ‘Arabian Nights’ event https://t.co/yoOL61QePP

When it comes to spin, Trudeau seems to have gotten an assist from Slate:
Gee, you think Slate is trying to cover for Trudeau with this framing and image? pic.twitter.com/Rd0bjig9RH
— neontaster (@neontaster) September 19, 2019
Well, this is certainly one way to frame it:
Justin Trudeau apologizes for dressing up as Aladdin at a school party. Will that be enough for Canadians to look past it? https://t.co/6IFKg1lzNB

We see what they did there!
What an expertly crafted headline.

It certainly must have taken some work.
no bias here. keep moving.

The photo accompanying this tweet is not the photo that has people upset. This photo would make people who just see this tweet assume that people are upset over nothing. Do better, Slate. Do better. https://t.co/Tte6odO4w8

That's not the photo LOL

Wrong. The photo does not show Trudeau dressed in brownface (aka blackface). This is Slate running damage control for a fellow leftist. Slate is garbage. https://t.co/UUQsefuSiA

By the end of the day, there are sure to be many other media outlets applying a spin that Trudeau might end up thanking them for.
