As you might have guessed, one of the leaders of the Hollywood chapter of the anti-Trump Resistance, Rob Reiner, took special interest in a recent claim from MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell:
O’Donnell still hasn’t deleted that tweet, perhaps because he would hate to give all those tens of thousands of retweets. Reiner also used O’Donnell’s story to further fuel his TDS:
So now we have Russians co-signing Trump’s loans. The mountain of Criminality is overwhelming. Impeachment is just the start. Vote him out. Then indict him. America deserves a President who isn’t a Liar, a Racist, and a Traitor.

Reiner also obviously thought this old tweet from Trump was such a “gotcha” that he retweeted it:
But as it turns out, there was a big problem with the story Reiner so badly wanted to be true:
Last night I made an error in judgment by reporting an item about the president’s finances that didn’t go through our rigorous verification and standards process. I shouldn’t have reported it and I was wrong to discuss it on the air. I will address the issue on my show tonight.

For some reason Reiner didn’t retweet that follow-up.

It might not even make any difference just because he wants it to be true, so in Reiner’s world, it still is.
MSNBC retracted the story, you doofus.

Do you ever retract your lies? The answer is no. You have zero credibilty. I don't even like Trump, yet you force me to defend him because I hate lies. You are not changing a single vote.
