As we told you yesterday, Sen. Chuck Schumer tried to defend Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts’ criticism of President Trump for referring to an “Obama judge” on the Ninth Circuit Court. Roberts said there are no “Obama judges” or “Bush judges,” just an independent judiciary. Schumer responded this way:
I don’t agree very often with Chief Justice Roberts, especially his partisan decisions which seem highly political on Citizens United, Janus, and Shelby.
But I am thankful today that he—almost alone among Republicans—stood up to President Trump and for an independent judiciary.

Among those rolling their eyes big time at that failed defense of Roberts was Fox News’ Brit Hume:
This is a truly idiotic tweet. Did Schumer or someone on his staff not see the howling contradiction here? https://t.co/hxyqAClbYa

It was very bipartisan of Schumer to help Trump make his point, even if he might not realize that’s what happened.

Way to go, Chuck!
