On Tuesday, Rep. Ted Lieu was among Democrats performing a deep dive analysis of a reference to “Devil’s Triangle” in Brett Kavanaugh’s high school yearbook:
When Kavanaugh lied about Devil's Triangle, it wasn't just a slip of the tongue. He falsely said it was a drinking game. When pressed, he said it was 3 glasses in a triangle. Then he said it's played like a quarters game.
He made up an extended lie under oath.#TuesdayThoughts https://t.co/ck0LXCLh3c

And then that ridiculous Dem talking point got blown out of the water:
Well, so much for THAT! Dems’ ‘Devil’s Triangle’ narrative just went ‘down in flames’ [pics] https://t.co/A49m4cjckd pic.twitter.com/OfOlS38K6z

With that, Brit Hume asked Lieu if it’s time to apologize:
This is holding up well. Care to apologize, sir. https://t.co/oYyrbh7TaD
— Brit Hume (@brithume) October 5, 2018
However, Lieu proved that he’s going to cling to that narrative no matter what:
Thanks, it is holding up well. Read this from Kavanaugh's roommate. https://t.co/FeK1kqcab3
— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) October 5, 2018
Hume then lowered the boom:
Sir, your “devil’s triangle” allegation has been blown up by schoolmates, including the one who devised the game — and was noted to have done so in the yearbook. The honorable thing to do would be to admit that. https://t.co/rOlBXimMfi
— Brit Hume (@brithume) October 5, 2018
But it seems there’s no amount of proof or debunking from those who were involved in the drinking game back then that will pry Lieu’s fingers from those talking points:
Did you read the article I just sent you from Kavanaugh's roommate saying Kavanaugh was lying about Devil's Triangle?
— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) October 5, 2018
Sir, did you note the letters sent by the two schoolmates and the yearbook mention supporting what they said?
— Brit Hume (@brithume) October 5, 2018
Yes. There's a conflict. Based on the totality of the evidence, I believe Kavanaugh's roommate.
I also believe Dr. Ford. You do not. We won't really know because none of us were present. We all have our own life experiences. I understand you don't agree with me and that's ok.
— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) October 5, 2018
Nice try, congressman, but no:
Oh for Pete’s sake. His roommate was not present during Kavanaugh’s high school years when he and his classmates played the game. Four who were say it was a drinking game and that’s backed up by a yearbook reference. And you say you believe the “totality of the evidence.” Please. https://t.co/Q40VjeMEgg

Most likely that will, again, fall on plugged ears:

Bingo.
You mean you believe his revised edition of the truth because his own words in the yearbook describes it as Kavanaugh and other witnesses say. You just prefer the narrative not the truth. This is why your party will not win at the ballot box this November, again.
