As you know, social media sites have been actively working to remove Alex Jones and Infowars from their platforms. However, even though that’s in the works, Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut says there’s much more to be done:
Infowars is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart. These companies must do more than take down one website. The survival of our democracy depends on it.

How many more websites need to be “taken down” in Murphy’s opinion (and which ones) in order to “save democracy” is anybody’s guess.

The “survival of our democracy depends on” defeating InfoWars is the kind of thing a totally serious senator says. https://t.co/TvHhJvNqmH

Nope, not a slippery slope at all. *Eye roll*

This is a very authoritarian mindset from Murphy. But I guess it shouldn't be that surprising given that he's such an anti-gun zealot https://t.co/xQLmxFplJ7

I think FB has a right to ban him.
But politicians using their power and influence to shut down speech…should be considered unAmerican. We need to draw a line somewhere.
But hey…maybe that is just me. https://t.co/PuQK62IIg9

Nothing says freedom like a member of congress calling on companies to silence speech and dissent. https://t.co/6VJYn3D2Oa

Differing positions on this particular issue aside, we’re guessing that if President Trump suggested action be taken to “take down more than one website” to save democracy, liberals like Murphy would be having a fit about it.
