As Twitchy has told you recently, high ranking government officials speaking at an NRA convention has brought with it another chance for certain media outlets to gin up phony “hypocrisy” stories.
ABC New York was among those outlets reporting that the NRA is prohibiting guns when it is, in fact, a Secret Service demand. To their credit, ABC New York did delete the original tweet with this explanation:
Thanks for the replies on this tweet. We are amending the headline accordingly to read: "Weapons banned during Pence NRA appearance" It is a Secret Service ban, not an NRA ban. We appreciate your feedback. We'll remove this tweet shortly too.

That’s better. However, you’ll notice that the follow-up tweet still manages to get in the bogus narrative from gun control proponents:
.@NRA follows @SecretService protocol for weapons ban at @VP appearance at Dallas convention, but gun control advocates say it's a contradiction in NRA beliefs. https://t.co/LN77bVAHrG

What “gun control advocates say” was the reason the story was wrong in the first place, but they tried to save it anyway:
And STILL misleading, but you know that. #FakeNews

So @abc7ny updated their @NRA tweet, but somehow, tweeted something even more stupid
“Gun control advocates say it's a contradiction in NRA beliefs"
What the heck does that even mean? https://t.co/QLi5IsuWJv

They tried. #Facepalm.
How is it a "contradiction in NRA Beliefs" to follow the law, and the request of law enforcement/secret service? NRA is all about following gun law. This headline is #FakeNews https://t.co/W0aohTZYAb

The reason gun-control people think this is a contradiction is because they think 2A proponents treat gun rights as religiously as gun control ppl treat gun control. https://t.co/SzsGrnPnt0

Doubling down on idiocy, not against obeying the law
