Comedian Michelle Wolf’s cheap shot monologue at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents Dinner was slammed by many, even some members of the media. As it turns out, it was too much for even the White House Correspondents Association president:
Statement from @WHCA president @margarettalev: Michelle Wolf's monologue "was not in the spirit" of the organization's mission. pic.twitter.com/dL5Y1zxQBW

“The entertainer’s monologue was not in the spirit” of the WHCA’s mission.

Was the WHCA completely unfamiliar with the person who was retained to perform the monologue?

It may not have been "in the spirit" of the org's mission, but it damn sure was in the spirit of its members. #JournalismIsDead https://t.co/htPglIbc4y

Those who applauded Wolf’s monologue slammed the WHCA for trying to quickly backpedal away from the comedian brought in to perform at their event:
WH correspondents — if you want people to respect you, you need to do things worthy of respect.
Expose corruption instead of covering for liars. Work to inform and educate the public instead of protecting the cruel and powerful.
Do your damn jobs. Michelle Wolf did hers. https://t.co/bEGdtvvhxs

The WHCA just lost all credibility it might have had with this statement. This White House has done and called folks all types of names and they released this statement about some jokes? They joke is on them. Trump wins again. https://t.co/knyX765dCc

the @WHCA should lock the doors and shut off the lights–its usefulness has expired https://t.co/fzRHEaWWKI

So weak. Trump wins.

This is why I think they shouldn't even have it. Inviting someone to speak freely and then kneecapping her like this is the worst possible outcome. https://t.co/MXtTRZWFmt

Are the days officially numbered for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner?
In general, it sounds like the monologue amounted to a…
Fail. Big time fail.
