The DNC was present at Saturday’s “March for Our Lives” in Washington, DC even though the event’s organizers claim that the movement is not a political one. Going even one step further in proving that it is, in fact, a political issue, there were people registered to vote at the march.
The total is in: 4800 new voters registered in a single day at #MarchForOurLives
Now that every HeadCount #RegisterToVote record is shattered, there's only one thing to do — register more voters and break these records! pic.twitter.com/WbbzidMJIO

NBC News at first wildly overstated the number of voters registered at the march and issued a correction:
Correction: The number of participants at the #MarchForOurLives event in DC is estimated at 800,000, but not 800,000 registering to vote.

However, even the correction is in dispute, but for another reason, and that’s the crowd size:
How does NBC arrive at that number? Several sources that use metrics for crowds came up with a number that is a 1/4 of what you are reporting. Perhaps you need to issue another correction?https://t.co/l8QrYaslFUhttps://t.co/kLfykyCeS0 pic.twitter.com/qHp91u5iwx

CBS News, with some outside help, was among outlets putting the number closer to 200,000:
More than 200,000 people attended the #MarchforOurLives demonstration in Washington D.C. on Saturday, according to Digital Design & Imaging Service Inc. https://t.co/n5agv1z1t8

I'm old enough to remember when the news media was very concerned about accurately reporting the number of people showing up for events in DC.
NBC exaggerates by about 4x here https://t.co/2z6VCKB6wk

The 800,000 number was according to organizers:
How many people attended March for Our Lives? CBS Crowd in D.C. estimated at 200,000 – Organizers said 800,000 https://t.co/T5CgLC6Izr

Organizers say 800,000+ showed up in DC for #MarchForOurLives. No way, says a group that mapa and estimates crowd sizes. https://t.co/f4gPGkoNJB
