The organizers of the #MarchForOurLives try to insist that it’s a nonpartisan endeavor that is a “march against gun violence,” and one Buzzfeed reporter isn’t happy that a couple of social media outlets aren’t sticking to the assigned narrative and are actually telling it like it is:
Seriously @Twitter and @Snapchat why are you guys calling #MarchForOurLives a "gun control rally." It's a march against gun violence. Get it together @jack and @evanspiegel (h/t @janetphd) pic.twitter.com/lVaAQQBpsY

Why are they calling it a “gun control rally”? For starters, maybe Twitter and Snapchat are paying attention to other Buzzfeed reporters:

Awkward! But it’s not just Buzzfeed. It’s possible some Twitter and Snapchat people are watching CNN:
Wait, @cnn … I thought it was a rally to "end gun violence" not for gun control. pic.twitter.com/j85xF6rWr6

Even some in the media are accidentally telling it like it is!
"Like, why are you taking the calls to repeal the Second Amendment totally seriously, and stuff?" #JournalismIsDead https://t.co/NpnqsxVdEz

If that were true, people would march in front of the @browardsheriff’s office, and demand that Scott Israel resign, or be fired. https://t.co/wB1JQZ1WcF

I'm really tired of this practice, which I will call "term policing." You want to avoid criticism by forcing people to reframe your politics using unimpeachable terms.
They're calling for gun control. It's a gun control rally. https://t.co/MkOCOayXTN
