Khizr Khan and his wife, both Muslims who became U.S. citizens in 1980, appeared at the Democratic National Convention and spoke about the loss of their son, Army Capt. Humayun Khan, who was killed in Iraq in 2004. Khan was very critical of Donald Trump in his convention remarks, saying Trump has sacrificed nothing. George Stephanopoulos asked Trump about it, and he responded this way:
Donald Trump to Army Gold Star father Khizr Khan: “I've made a lot of sacrifices" https://t.co/ZOHLGCaOyChttps://t.co/Myp4oyHyX4

Trump’s response to questions about Khan are being heavily criticized to say the least:
When @GStephanopoulos asked Trump what he'd say to Khan family, none of what he said was "Thank you." @ThisWeekABC https://t.co/UuB5LknIIy

Context: Khan had no written remarks. His wife didn't speak because she still cries when she sees her son's photo. https://t.co/CIKhe9UNVG

. Wow, not even "Sorry for your loss, your son was a hero and we thank him for his service." No humanity or decency in this man.

This clip is everything that's wrong w/ Trump. It's all about him and he can't even praise parents who lost a child. https://t.co/BFIfv35TUM

Trump claims he has "sacrificed" for his country -> works hard, created jobs, raised $. Clueless what "sacrifice" is https://t.co/0OcSVaZmIK

I can't fathom a Commander in Chief responding in this way. It's incomprehensible. https://t.co/TK3wYb3tQE

In Trump’s world, paying someone for work is a sacrifice. https://t.co/iRIHa1J9Is

If there were a virtue that was the opposite of magnanimity, Trump would be an exemplar of it. https://t.co/4R6oBHQ4HU

@ABC this is very insulting to Mr. Khan and typical of Donald Trump.

Watch this. Then tell me @realDonaldTrump meets the minimal standards of character & self-awareness to be president. https://t.co/D0zAR1oIP1

Update:
This interview with the Khans that aired on MSNBC isn’t going to help Trump’s case much when his sit-down finally airs Sunday morning.
Ghazala Khan, killed American soldier's mom, whom Trump smeared for not speaking, had spoken. From 2:40 onward: https://t.co/nRbDQW9Ps1
