Yesterday, FBI Director James Comey outlined a list of Hillary Clinton’s negligence, irresponsibility and deceptive practices while she was secretary of state, concluded that none of it rises to the level of a criminal offense.
The bottom line is that it doesn’t look like anybody will be held accountable for Hillary’s email shenanigans, and former press secretary for George W. Bush Dana Perino can’t believe it:
Would you allow me a bit of a rant on the Comey/HRC email story? Because I'm stewing. So here goes…

When I was privileged to be granted SCI/top secret security clearance, I took it seriously. What an honor to be trusted with such info
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
I remember when we went to Russia, we had to leave our Blackberries on AF1. We were nervous – how would we communicate? But we did it.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
Because the USSS asked us to do so – to protect the nation's information. This wasn't about our emails – but the nation's information
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
Because when you work for the federal government and at the WH in particular, you work for THE PEOPLE. Your sense of self is erased.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
You don't have a right to the information. Every thing you do should be for the nation's wellbeing. So we left our devices on the plane.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
I never thought of being at the WH as being there just for the Republicans. The party existed, it was important, but I was there for the USA
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
So Comey says HRC had no intent. 1) I don't believe that. 2) Who cares? That's not what the law says. At a minimum, I'd lose my clearance
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
For years we've had to say Comey sure stood up to the President when he was bothered by the Terrorist Surveillance Program. Fine. So braver.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
But then what of this decision yesterday? Is that brave? Would the same deference & pretzel twisting of the law been done for a Republican?
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
I think we all know the answer: NO. It would not. A GOP in the same circumstances would have at least lost their clearance. OK fine.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
Maybe the Dems will have enough self respect to recognize they just won this round on a terrible call by a ref. If they gloat, I'll scream.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
Because she wants to be the President of the United States of America. What does that mean to her? President to half the nation?
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
Every single day when I walked into the White House I said a prayer of gratitude for the privilege to work on behalf of the nation.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
I loved working at the White House & for President GWB. I never would have put the country nor his presidency at risk by being so reckless.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
And for those who point to stories about 5 m missing emails in the Bush admin, I refer to my rant explaining this over and over
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
It is not at all the same – plus the emails were found – and there was no intent to deceive. So stick a sock in it on that one.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) July 6, 2016
I'm flying back to be on @TheFive and @kellyfile tonight. So I'm just getting warmed up…
