Both Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and EPA administrator Gina McCarthy are being grilled before a congressional committee today about the Flint water crisis.

One particularly curious moment during testimony came when McCarthy tried to explain to the committee that her agency had been kept from intervening for a period of time:
.@GinaEPA claims @EPA was virtually powerless to @MichiganDEQ: "We were strong armed, we were misled…we couldn't do our jobs effectively."

After chair insists Gina McCarthy can respond, she says EPA was "strong armed, mislead" by @MichiganDEQ. Everyone is shifting blame.

A federal agency like the EPA was “strong armed” by local officials?
Gee, wish #EPA had authority over water safety or even ability to release its finding to public.

Right?
@ron_fournier always somebody else fault w/ this admin. powerful enough to jam thru regs in EPA, HHS, Immi, but powerless to do actual job

@ron_fournier If the media treated D & R equally, this would be blamed on Obama. This & CO river would be the hallmark of his admin.
