As we reported earlier, Team Trump responded to allegations that campaign manager Corey Lewandowski manhandled Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, who later tweeted a photo of her bruised arm. The final paragraph of the Trump campaign’s statement accuses Fields of exaggerating claims of what happened while she was covering a 2011 Occupy Wall Street protest in New York City [emphasis ours]:
This person claims she does not want to be part of the news, and only report it, however if that was the case, any concerns, however unfounded they may be, should have been voiced directly first and not via twitter, especially since no other outlet or reporter witnessed or questioned anything that transpired that evening. We leave to others whether this part of a larger pattern of exaggerating incidents, but on multiple occasions she has become part of the news story as opposed to reporting it. Recall she also claimed to have been beaten by a New York City Police officer with a baton.
After Trump’s campaign said that Fields “claimed to have been beaten by a New York City police officer with a baton,” Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, in an attempt to show that Fields is an “attention-seeker,” tweeted these:
Daily Caller reporter assaulted by NYPD during ‘Occupy’ protests — professional reporting or attention seeking? https://t.co/FqOQQMvNcy

Michelle Fields is an attention seeker who once claimed Allen West groped her but later went silent. https://t.co/J86Ej42eYx

Lewandowski isn’t winning over many with these particular attempts to make a point that Fields is merely seeking attention:
False, and you bruised her @CLewandowski_ . YOU made her the story.

Is ripping a reporter nearly to the ground professional campaign management @CLewandowski_? Or were you just seeking attention?

@CLewandowski_ Assaults a woman, lies about it and then attacks her reputation. No wonder he's working for @realDonaldTrump

So it's @MichelleFields fault. That's what you're going with? https://t.co/LNlSMSu4DH
