@davidaxelrod first rule of holes

David Axelrod, former adviser to President Obama, recently said that if you looked up “stupid” in the dictionary, you’d find [Jonathan] Gruber’s picture.
Axelrod is now attempting to send Gruber’s comments to the dustbin while acknowledging his contributions to the law:
One additional note on Gruber: His contributions to the ACA, like Gov. Romney's MA plan, were valuable. His throwaway quips were offensive.

“Throwaway quips”?
Pretty hard to throw away when he let the mask slip and told us what you criminals were up to. @davidaxelrod

@davidaxelrod He accused the President and senior members of Congress of participating in a massive fraud, that's a "throwaway quip"?

Obamacare-supporting Dems certainly would like to throw away the numerous recordings of Gruber, but that’s not being allowed:

@davidaxelrod Everyone notes you didn't use the word "false"

@davidaxelrod His advice on hiding the unpopular parts certainly were valuable, because you passed it. Chickens now coming home to roost.

Cute attempt at shifting blame. Up until yesterday Democrats were all on record as never having heard of him! @davidaxelrod

.@davidaxelrod @tobyharnden how were they valuable? Was the modeling accurate? Or just useful for gaming CBO scoring, do you mean?
— soncharm (@soncharm) November 17, 2014
@davidaxelrod Hahah, we heard you loud and clear. The architect of #ACA is an a-hole and #Obamacare is a mess. Gotcha Dave! #Gruber

Could Axelrod’s distraction attempt possibly be more obvious?

.@davidaxelrod Why are you bringing up Romney? This has to do with #Gruber 's comments on #Obamacare, try to stay focused. #StupidVoters

@davidaxelrod @DesertedOdds Let me guess why you mention Romney. He admits a fraud. Can you discuss that, please?
— Mark O. Van Wagoner (@VanWagoner) November 17, 2014
@davidaxelrod Stop deflecting #Gruber's condescending appraisal of voters. It was very revealing and that's on your party, not Romney.
— Kthejolie (@Trestresjolie) November 17, 2014
Rest assured, the Democrats will try multiple approaches until something sticks:
