Rep. Trey Gowdy will reportedly head up a House special select committee on Benghazi. That news comes the same day that Rep. Darrell Issa, head of the House Oversight Committee, announced that he has subpoenaed Secretary of State John Kerry to testify about numerous issues involving recently released emails and “disregard for its legal obligations to Congress”:
Today I announced a subpoena requiring Secretary Kerry to testify at a public @GOPoversight hearing on May 21. #Benghazi
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 2, 2014
State Dept's response to congressional investigation of #Benghazi has shown a disturbing disregard for its legal obligations to Congress.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 2, 2014
Compliance with a subpoena for documents is not a game. The State Dept has failed to meet its legal obligations. #Benghazi
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 2, 2014
It is because the State Dept has failed to meet its legal obligations that I have issued a subpoena to Secretary Kerry. #Benghazi
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 2, 2014
Secretary Kerry must answer questions about the State Dept's response to the congressional investigation. #Benghazi
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 2, 2014
The State Dept is not entitled to delay responsive materials because it is embarrassing or implicates senior officials. #Benghazi
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 2, 2014
Yesterday, BGen Lovell testified that the State Dept never asked military forces to go save Americans in #Benghazi during the attack.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 2, 2014
I expect Sec Kerry to identify docs the Dept is withholding, has delayed, or has simply avoided searching for. #Benghazi

Hillary Clinton has already testified before Congress (see “what difference does it make” from January of 2013). However, some wondered why Hillary isn’t being hauled back in to be grilled about some of the more recent Benghazi revelations:
Come on HOUSE you subpoena Kerry over Benghazi?? Clinton is who needs to testify get your act together IN NOV we VOTE WAKE UP NOW
— AppSame (@AppSame) May 2, 2014
Kerry?? Why doesnt Issa subpoena Hillary on Benghazi? Lets stop the games and half attempts.

Subpoena #Kerry? Subpoena #Hillary. Put her under oath and force her to answer question #Benghazi

To subpoena John Kerry over the #Beghazi issue is actually rather pointless, HE wasn't SOS then, HILLARY was! HE literally knows NOTHING!

@DarrellIssa @JohnKerry Kerry is the current Sec but why on earth hasn't Hillary been subpoena. She was in charge at the time not Kerry.
— Gil Becerra (@Bec1226) May 2, 2014
@DarrellIssa . Ok, so subpoena Kerry. But Hillary was in charge. Her lies have been exposed now. Get her back on the stand, under oath. Thx.

@DarrellIssa Will you be issuing a subpoena to Hillary Clinton as well? She needs to answer for her actions. Or rather, inaction. #Benghazi
