As the trial of George Zimmerman draws to an end, the closing argument of his defense included an attempt to dispel the prosecution’s assertion that Trayvon Martin was “unarmed.”
In reference to testimony that Martin held Zimmerman down and bashed his head on a concrete sidewalk, the Zimmerman defense used a heavy courtroom prop:
O'Mara: <grabs concrete> That is a sidewalk. That is not an unarmed teen with nothing but skittles trying to get home

O'Mara picks up large chunk of concrete and places it in front of jurors. Saying it was how #TrayvonMartin armed himself. #ZimmermanTrial

Will the “armed with sidewalk concrete” tactic be effective with the jury? If these tweeters were on the jury we doubt it:

Dude really said the sidewalk was a weapon for trayvon! I really don't know how to feel

Zimmerman's Lawyer Actually Said The Sidewalk Was Trayvon's “Weapon"….What A Joke ? ✋

If the sidewalk is a weapon, both of them were armed with it? http://t.co/AedWBSeSY1

The defense is arguing again Trayvon's fists + the concrete sidewalk were more deadly weapons than the gun Zimmerman killed him with. OK

We’ll find out soon what happens, because the jury is expected to begin deliberations this afternoon.
