You are never really the official Republican nominee for president until you are accused of wanting to ship gays to fictitious concentration camps somewhere in Montana or Idaho. Well, congrats Mitt Romney — you’ve made it!

This has been a perpetual gay activist canard for the past 30 years. Somehow the idea took hold in the American gay community that the Republican Party is in constant construction building these camps. They really believe it.
For too long the Republican Party has been sticking to a NAZI oriented view of the world. Kill Arabs, bomb civilians, censor the media, throw people in concentration camps, and make life difficult for gays/lesbians. Some Americans (many of them Republicans) would gladly just have the government kill all the gays and lesbians, but thankfully those KKK/NRA members are too busy at home collecting their NAZI memorabilia and stroking their guns lovingly.
This accusation is repeatedly shouted by left-wing activists and it has taken hold as “fact” by even non-political types in the gay community.
However, there has only been one notable political figure in the U.S. advocating death to his opponents.

Dan Savage has personally insulted virtually every Republican candidate for higher office. Last year, Savage said on Bill Maher’s show, “I wish the Republicans were all f***ing dead.”
But he saved some special vitriol for Herman Cain. When Cain stated that he thought that homosexual activity was a choice in October 2011, Savage responded by telling Cain to “show us how a man can choose to be gay. Suck my dick, Herman.”
Yep, that’s the same Dan Savage of #ItGetsBetter fame. But to leftist activists, it’s perfectly acceptable to publicly wish death upon conservatives. Perhaps the gays who still think the Republicans are building “gay concentration camps” are experiencing a serious form of reverse projection.
