The greatest coach in women’s basketball history, Pat Summitt, has stepped down as head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. Last year Summitt announced she had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type which is likely the main reason behind her deciding to step down.
During her time with Tennessee, she has won 8 national championships and is the only women’s or men’s basketball coach in history to reach 1000 wins.
The Lady Vols, nor college basketball, will ever feel the same without her. We wish her the best.
