Will Mark Ruffalo Get the Gina Carano Treatment From Disney?

As you know, "Mandalorian" star Gina Carano was fired from the show over her "problematic" tweets. Back in February, Carano filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm with the backing of X owner Elon Musk. Co-star Pedro Pascal reportedly tried to "save" Carano from herself, urging her to tweet a hashtag like #transrights.

I've never seen "The Mandalorian" or any of the Star Wars shows on Disney Plus. But I remember covering the tweet that was the straw that broke the camel's back. As The Hollywood Reporter reported:

"The final straw came with a meme she stumbled across and reposted to Instagram Stories and to Fleets (Twitter’s version of Stories) on Feb. 10, 2021," [Seth] Abramovitch reports. "It featured a photo of a terrified Jewish woman being chased by a boy holding a bat during the Holocaust. 'How is this any different from hating someone for their political views?' the accompanying caption asked."

Yes, THAT was the tweet that got her fired. That, and putting "boop/bop/beep" as the pronouns in her Twitter bio. Disney was nervous that Carano was moving into Nazi territory (even though she was warning against it).

Now, Marvel's Mark Ruffalo is venturing into Nazi territory:

Isn't that just as problematic?

The answer is no, nothing will happen to Ruffalo. He won't get a warning about his X posts.

Carano was warning against America turning into Nazi Germany, with neighbors turning in neighbors. But hers was a tweet too far. This is by far not the most political Ruffalo has gotten on his Twitter feed. Ruffalo warns against America turning into Nazi Germany and … crickets.

There are different rules. It couldn't be more obvious.
